FOLLOW THE TRACKS OF JIMMY ANGEL

12 to 14 days of Adventure

Upon your arrival in Venezuela, we will fly to El Dorado, a mining town (but sadly also the site of a maximum-security penitenciary, Las Colonias Móviles, on an island in the middle of the piranha and electric eel-infested Cuyuni River).

We will drive South 85 km. (50 miles) on a paved highway through the jungle and mining country to reach Las Claritas, where will visit a few gold mines and get used to the hot and humid weather before undertaking our expedition. We will spend the night in a comfortable camp.

The next morning, we will fly by helicopter over La Gran Sabana and Angel Falls (979 m high, 3,215 ft., the world’s highest waterfall) and land at the crash site of Jimmy Angel on the Auyantepuy (height of 2,640 m., 8,665ft.) A crew of native Indians that will help us carry our stores and equipment will wait for us there.

Then 5 to 7 days of hiking and camping on top of the Auyantepuy: which means ?Hell’s Mountain? in the "Pemón" Indian dialect. The Indians rarely climb the tepuy, being scared by its bad spirits and its God Tramán-Chitá.

We will reach the Indian village of Kamarata passing through the spectacular canyon of Kavac.

From there, we will continue our adventure in Indian’s “curiaras” a kind of dugout canoe, through the rivers Akanan and Carrao, passing at the base of Angel Falls. We will arrive to Canaima after 3 days of navigation and sleeping in hammocks. We will take advantage of this spectacular location, its rose-colored lagoon bordered by a pink beach, its chain of seven magnificent falls to relax and rest from our feat.

Return flight to Caracas and to your final destination.
